It’s a Nice Day for a White Wedding

Nothing exuberates an elegant and timeless vibe like an all-white wedding. While all colors are gorgeous, there is something so dreamy and ethereal about a white wedding – it can simply take your breath away.

Brides in general are sometimes nervous to go all-white everything, because they fear it won’t be interesting enough and can’t transform the space like color could. We say – nothing creates a more stunning and romantic atmosphere like all white, and in the world of weddings, many of the royal weddings, celebrity weddings and most of the six-figure budget weddings you see in the magazines were, well – all white.

Bridal Beauty at The Ritz-Carlton Battery Park

One of the best parts of working with Bride & Blossom is having the opportunity to hear the amazing love stories of our brides. Liza and Jesse’s story is no exception!

“Jesse’s sister Carly introduced me to Jesse at her Hanukkah party several years ago. My close friend from college grew up in the same town as Jesse and is close friends with Carly. It took Jesse almost a year to ask me out, but after our first date, the rest was history. Being married to Jesse makes me feel like the luckiest girl!”

We think she’s pretty lucky too, especially helping to create a classic ambiance for her traditional wedding at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park. Liza went with a clean, simple color palette in shades of white and ivory with blush accents that popped against the dominant neutrals she chose. With a show-stopping venue like The Ritz-Carlton, she knew better than to overdo it on décor, and let the setting add to the classy, romantic mood.

Perfectly Peachy at the Refinery Hotel

Peach, the sophisticated cousin of that ubiquitous wedding color — pink. This often-overlooked color can add a delicate touch of femininity to your wedding decor without going over-the-top. It works brilliantly as the subtle pop in a neutral color palette, and is brought to life with the addition of vibrant greenery. At a recent Bride & Blossom wedding held at Manhattan’s Refinery Hotel, we saw this color take center stage as the star of a particularly sophisticated soiree. The cosmopolitan venue provided the perfect backdrop for hues of peach, ivory, and cream with lush green accents.

Flower Crowns Forever

Are floral crowns a classic wedding element, or a trend that has managed to stick around? It’s hard to say. In Ancient China, brides traditionally wore orange blossom wreaths on their wedding day, and Elizabeth Taylor crowned herself with hyacinths before she said “I do” to fellow actor Richard Burton in 1964. Throughout the centuries, brides have worn flowers in their hair to symbolize youth, fertility, and the natural cycle of life.

Modern flower crowns are less about tradition and symbolism than they are about color-schemes and overall aesthetics. Floral wreaths work at any time of year, but with the vibrant Spring and Summer wedding seasons quickly approaching, we need even more inspiration to fuel our creativity here in the Bride & Blossom studio.

#MeetTheReineckes

When we think of the phrase “dream wedding” in the Bride & Blossom studio, we don’t mean a high-maintenance affair with pounds of tulle and a cavalcade of stretch limos. For us, a dream wedding is one where the couple’s unique love story shines through anything, even a rainy day in Manhattan.

The Reinecke wedding was the kind we dream about. These Boston College sweethearts held their wedding at Battery Gardens, accompanied by the mellow vibes of the Clark Eno Orchestra. The bride wore Kate Spade shoes for the ceremony and reception, but had no problem slipping into Hunter boots when the weather turned wet. From champagne with her bridesmaids until the moment she said “I do,” bride Kristen McEvitt was the perfect image of a princess.

Featured Venue: The Village Club of Sands Point

Since the beginnings of Bride & Blossom, we have had the privilege of working with so many extraordinary venues, ranging from intimate urban spaces like Studio 450 to sprawling rustic-romantic landscapes like Blue Hill at Stone Barns. One of our favorite locations by far has been the Village Club of Sands Point, at 1916 Italian Renaissance-style mansion built in upstate NY by Issac Guggenheim.

What makes this space special is not only its inherent beauty, but its ability to be completely transformed into an absolute fairytale with the right touches. Our mother-of-the-bride said it best: “You all not only met, but exceeded our expectations for the day! You transformed the Village Club of Sands Point Mansion, which is already a beautiful setting for a wedding, into something that was magical and truly memorable.”
