Pretty in Pink

We know “wedding whites” and “something blue,” but there’s a third color that dominates the wedding industry: pink. This hue can show up anywhere from over-arching color schemes to non-traditional bridal gowns and, of course, flowers. Because so many blooms naturally occur in this hue, it’s no surprise that we have used a ton of pink flowers over the years at Bride & Blossom.

Wedding Trends: Floral Cakes

Is there anything better than flowers and cake? We’re pretty sure there isn’t. Coordination between your florist and your cake designer can be a great way to keep continuity throughout your decor, and make your flowers a part of your reception. Below are some of our favorite cakes we’ve collaborated on, and some inspiration we’ve picked up along the way!

1. The Naked Cake

Gone are the days when white buttercream and/or fondant were a wedding cake requirement. The “naked cake,” made popular by Momofuku Milk Bar, is at once rustic, on-trend, and ultramodern.

2. The Succulent Cake

Succulents are all the rage right now, popping up in centerpieces, bridal bouquets, and wedding decor — but this is the first time we’ve seen one on a cake! We’re so inspired by this simple, trend-forward cake.

5 Outdoor Weddings Tips & Tricks

Outdoor weddings can be a beautiful and unique setting for your special day, but these celebrations are not without their challenges — especially for flowers, which are sensitive to the elements. Read on for five tried and tested tips and tricks from the Bride and Blossom team to make your outdoor wedding a breeze.

#1 – While almost any flower *can* be used in an outdoor setting, it’s a good idea to steer clear of small, delicate flowers like ranunculus, sweet pea, and anemones for outdoor structures.

Bouquet Recipe: Soft & Stunning for Summer

Summer Bouquet Recipe AnnaLeeMedia

For the summer wedding of a bride who is a very dear friend, we created this hand-tied bridal bouquet, composed of flowers in shades of cream and very pale blush. For a soft, airy, romantic look, we selected fluffy café au lait dahlias and peonies, delicate spray roses and sweet pea and classic Vendela roses. To finish the bouquet, stems were ties with white-satin ribbon, accented with lace from the bridal gown.

Summer Wedding Anna Lee Media Bride and Blossom

Watching my dear friend Marissa walk down the aisle as a stunning bride was one of the best moments of my summer. Creating wedding flowers for this quintessential, summer, country-club wedding was a true pleasure. I wanted to make sure this bride had the gorgeous flowers – and perfect wedding day – that she deserved.

One of my favorite details from this wedding was a special touch added to the grouped floral arrangement we created for the card table. We suspended light pink, cymbidium orchids, on clear wire, from an arrangement of cream hydrangea and Vendela roses, blush Esther roses, white phalaenopsis orchid blooms and cascading, white, Hawaiian dendrobium orchids. Incorporating hanging florals, into tall card-table floral arrangements and centerpieces evokes a sense of magic and grandeur. We love getting creative in this way.

Marissa

It was a true joy to work with Bride and Blossom. What a fantastic and super talented team they have! I had lots of ideas and knew how I wanted my Country Chic wedding to look. They took the time to hear my vision and cared about the little details that were important to me. It was white glove service through and through. They provided fabulous feedback and examples to ensure we were always on the same page. They were also very flexible with any changes that needed to be made throughout the whole process. They were able to create such beautiful masterpieces-I couldn’t have possibly asked for any better!! When I walked into the ballroom to see the finished product, I cried. Thank you for my wedding a dream come true!!!!
