Designing Our New Manhattan Showroom

showroom-mood-board

As soon we saw this space, we knew it was the one! Located right across the street from Bloomingdales, in one of Manhattan’s best shopping districts, we are just blocks from some of New York City’s best wedding venues, including The Plaza Hotel, St. Regis New York and Central Park.

It’s a dream come true to design a space that reflects our aesthetic of beauty. We want to welcome our brides and invite them to relax. To make our vision a reality, we started by making a mood board. Basic elements were clear from the start: a color palette of grays and mauve, with crystal accents, modern, open shelving for display, and lush, textured seating.

Bouquet Recipe: Pretty Peach & Purple Petals

bridal-bouquet-recipe-peach-and-purple

Rich, vibrant hues and unexpected contrast made this bridesmaids’ bouquet stand out.

Wedding-flower color schemes are always carefully considered by brides and wedding florists. In fact, color is often the first thing our brides mention in our conversation about types of wedding flowers. To achieve the layered, painterly look of this bouquet, it was essential to select exactly the perfect shades of peach and purple.

Cool-toned purple hydrangea formed a lush base. Pale-peach garden roses brought softness to the color palette, while ranunculus, in a brighter, sunset shade of peach, infused the bouquet with warmth. Deep-purple dahlias added richness. We finished the bouquet with accents of silver-green dusty miller leaves.

Flower-Inspired Fashion: Orchids in Autumn

Autumn Orchids

Cultivate a rarified air with luxury fashion, beauty treasures and exquisite accessories, inspired by the most mystical flower. Orchids always make an impact. These delicate hothouse blooms are sought after by brides for the exotic beauty and sense of grandeur they bring to arrangements and bouquets. When Pantone named Radiant Orchid the color of 2014, designers, florists and decorators embraced the bright, flattering hue. This fall, orchids appear in deeper and softer shades. Pack dark, feminine floral prints, sculptural adornments and a seductive new fragrance for a romantic city weekend away. You’ll be radiant.

Golden Autumn Weddings

Yellow mokara orchids

Yellow mokara orchids

Everything glows in the golden light of autumn sunshine. If you’re planning a fall wedding, consider choosing a deep yellow like goldenrod, marigold or mustard as part of your color palette.

One beautiful way to work with a strong, striking shade is to use unusual blossoms while keeping the color scheme very simple. In this wedding, we used an abundance of bright yellow orchids for the bridesmaids’ bouquets, miniature yellow calla lilies for the groomsmen, and for the adorable flower girl, we made a perfectly round bouquet of yellow mums. Each mum held a tiny pearl in its center. For the bride, we stuck to white. Read More

Perfect Color-Matching for Weddings With the New Nix Sensor

nix sensor: a smartphone accessory for accurate color measurement

A new smartphone accessory lets you get color just right for your wedding. Color measurably affects mood, memory and confidence, so it’s no wonder brides spend so much time considering color schemes and palettes when choosing flowers, dresses, decor, venues and makeup.

Technology has taken color obsession to a new level. Just look at how many Pinterest boards and Instagram shots are sorted and tagged by color. And it’s hard to even imagine meeting with a floral designer or shopping for bridesmaids dresses without trading photos and inspiration by smartphone. But technology can also complicate color choices. Designers work with varied systems of color coding and web and mobile color identification apps are often quite inaccurate.
