The establishment of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden over a century ago paralleled the modern development of New York City. After the rooftop­ ceremony, guests gathered for cocktail hour to raise the first of many toasts honoring the newlyweds. Then it was off to the Vale Ballroom where a magnificent scene awaited them. “We knew that we wanted a transformation between the ceremony and the reception,” the bride says. “Our all-white ceremony was followed by the most colorful reception. We loved that everyone was like, ‘What did I just walk into?’ They were so surprised!”
