Jaslyn and Andrew met during college when they both were studying abroad. Jaslyn remembers, “On the second night of our program, a group of us headed out for a tapas crawl. I immediately noticed Andrew – he has a voice that carries across the room and makes everyone feel like a good friend.” Andrew was struck by Jaslyn’s warm smile and contagious laugh. “We’ve been to so many weddings, but never one on a Manhattan rooftop. After taking in the views, we couldn’t see us getting married without the NYC skyline in the background. It was just our vibe – the venue had everything we imagined for a dream wedding.” This week, BB Featured Bride Joye reminisces on her breathtaking sky-high ceremony at Tribeca Rooftop.

As guests made their way to the rooftop patio, they we welcomed with an iconic scene of downtown Manhattan that harmonized the city’s past and present, showing off time-worn landmark buildings against towering sleek skyscrapers. Joye and Scott ran in the same circle of friends during college, but they didn’t start dating until after graduation. “I finally caved and let him take me out,” Joye says with a laugh. They clicked immediately and soon realized their connection went far deeper than anything they had experienced during those casual get-togethers at school. “I can honestly say that I wanted Scott in my life for the long-haul from the beginning. He really wasn’t the type to be in a steady relationship. In fact, I was his first serious girlfriend, so I knew that he had the same feelings.”

While many couples choose to have their ceremony and reception at the same venue, Christina and Ben chose a more traditional setting to exchange their vows – the Church of Our Saviour. BB Featured Bride Christina reflects back on this part of her wedding and says, ‘it was really special because this is the church where Ben and I go every Sunday for mass.” In fact, after the couple became engaged, Ben decided to convert to Christina’s faith of Catholicism. “He actually received his confirmation and first communion there,” she says. “And we had the same priest, Monsignor Sullivan, who confirmed Ben marry us.”  This week, we look back at how the couple blended tradition with personal meaning on their wedding day.
