Lorenza & Pete Wedding – Bride Groom – New York Botanical Garden – by The Hons
Heading into the holiday season, we couldn’t think of anyone better to have as our featured bride for December than Lorenza. She and Pete celebrated saying “I do” on an enchanted winter’s day at the New York Botanical Garden. Here, Lorenza shares the first part of their love story.
Proposal & Planning
In a time when casual dating via social apps is like a sport, Lorenza wanted something with more substance. Looking back, she says, “It was the busiest time of my professional career. I was a producer at CNN covering the 2016 election. Despite my busy work-life, I knew I was ready to meet someone special.” So upon the suggestion of a colleague, she joined, with some apprehension, the paid dating website, Match.com. Read More
It’s that time of year again, when the air turns cool & crisp, and the leaves light up with fantastic warm shades. Fall is the most popular season for weddings, and with good reason. “Fall is when mother nature is showing off!” says Creative Director Lindsay Saltz, “and the fall foliage serves as a perfect design backdrop.”
We’ve found that a lot of clients don’t want to necessarily play into the classic fall colors – and we don’t blame them. While orange, red, yellow, and caramel can bring festive warmth to your color scheme, there are some great alternatives that will really play up the seasonal backdrop while keeping your colors modern and unique. Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful moms who do so much to make their daughters’ wedding days special. Some of our favorite wedding memories this year are of time spent with mothers-of-the-bride, hearing stories about their own weddings, seeing the love and pride on their faces. Here are a few of our favorite wedding photos featuring these wonderful women.
A beautiful wedding venue and valuable education center, NYBG is one of New York City’s true treasures. The Orchid Show always fills us with wonder but this year, we are extra excited about the theme. Floral chandeliers are one of our favorite wedding-flower trends right now. Delicate, vibrant orchids, in all their exquisite variety, are a perfect type of flower to use in creating chandelier designs. We expect to be inspired!
If you live in the New York City area, don’t miss this event. And meanwhile, take a look at one of our NYBG weddings: Picture Perfect.
From the night Alison and Alistair met, they have been — literally– making beautiful music together. There is something so romantic about artists who fall in love through their creative work, and begin to collaborate. This lush wedding at New York Botanical Garden was one of our summer favorites. Bride Alison tells their love story:
“My husband Alistair and I are both professional musicians. He is a cellist and I am an opera singer. In August of 2010 we were hired to make a promotional recording for an opera that we would perform a year later. The evening started out with a large group of people and we recorded the group numbers. As the night progressed, more and more singers and instrumentalists were released, leaving just a very small group, including me and my husband, who was just a mysterious, smiley, excellent cellist stranger to me at the time. We recorded the final number of the night, a very dramatic aria sung by me, with Alistair playing a very prominent, collaborative role. Read More
Vows and joyful laughter under white Chuppah with hydrangeas and roses. Photo by Fred Marcus.
Lindsay and Noah said their vows under a dream-like white Chuppah studded with clusters of roses. We used color to achieve a perfect balance between timeless and modern for the classic ceremony and candlelit reception at New York Botanical Garden. Photographer Fred Marcus beautifully captured this smitten couple’s celebration.
We love using purple and lavender flowers for so many reasons. For outdoor weddings, purples are gorgeous against green grass and trees. Dresses in shades like plum and aubergine flatter nearly everyone, so bridesmaids look and feel their best. Here, we wrapped sweet lavender roses with deep berry ribbon to create the attendants’ bouquets. Read More
