Melanie & Nick Wedding – Ceremony -Suffolk Theater – Sean Gallery Photography
After walking the red carpet, guests entered the lobby of The Suffolk Theater for Melanie and Nick’s wedding. A festive mood filled the air (literally) – a floating canopy of balloons trimmed with florals and ribbon hung overhead. While the movie theme was apparent, the couple kept the rest of their wedding details under wraps. Melanie reveals, “One of the surprises was that we made our own escort cards to look like tickets. The theater has an original ticket booth from the 1930s. Nick’s friend, who is an actor, stood in the booth handing out tickets and ushering everyone into the theater.” Here, she talks about sharing the spotlight with Nick to say “I Do” in front of family and friends. By the time the rings were exchanged, it was clear to everyone that Yani and Divinity had put together the ultimate mixed tape of love songs for their ceremony. Yani looks back and says, “Finally, after the kiss, we exited into cocktail hour to ‘Is This Love’ by Bob Marley!” Here, she shares the final chapter in their Real BB Wedding Story.
We always tell our couples not to overlook the card table – it’s the first thing guests see heading into the reception and helps set the tone for the rest of the wedding. Yani and Divinity completely ran with the idea in welcoming their family and friends. The traditional décor fixture took shape in a jaw-dropping tree made of wisteria and birch branches adorned with roses, ranunculus, camellia greenery, and moss. “We had heart-shaped origami place cards, inspired by our connection to Japan, suspended from the branches waiting for our guests,” Yani says. With the end of each season, we always like to take a moment to reflect on our weddings – what made each one unique, memorable, and especially beautiful. This past summer, we had the pleasure of decorating the most luxurious venues in the New York area. Wedding styles ranged from upscale elegance to natural romanticism to modern chic. As floral designers, it’s always exciting to see how flowers and décor enliven these already gorgeous spaces while expressing a couple’s style and personality.

Not many couples can say that the world’s biggest superstar brought them together. Yani and Divinity met while touring the world with Beyonce on The Beyonce Experience in 2007. “Divinity was her bass player and I was one of her dancers,” Yani says. Achieving that level of professional-artistic success requires talent and dedication. She continues, “Divinity’s very passionate, focused and disciplined – qualities that I also see in myself. We connected on that level. And she has a great smile.”
We are excited to introduce Yani, our Bride & Blossom Featured Bride for September. Yani and Divinity exchanged vows on a picture-perfect day at Liberty House. Here, she shares the first chapter in their Real BB Wedding story. Read More
