Golden Autumn Weddings

Yellow mokara orchids

Yellow mokara orchids

Everything glows in the golden light of autumn sunshine. If you’re planning a fall wedding, consider choosing a deep yellow like goldenrod, marigold or mustard as part of your color palette.

One beautiful way to work with a strong, striking shade is to use unusual blossoms while keeping the color scheme very simple. In this wedding, we used an abundance of bright yellow orchids for the bridesmaids’ bouquets, miniature yellow calla lilies for the groomsmen, and for the adorable flower girl, we made a perfectly round bouquet of yellow mums. Each mum held a tiny pearl in its center. For the bride, we stuck to white. Read More

Perfection in The Poconos

Poconos wedding

So many charming details came together to make Stephanie and Andrew’s wedding really special. This couple seemed destined for a perfectly romantic wedding from day one.

“I am an NYC girl who somehow managed to find a southern boy in this big city,” said Stephanie. “We met almost five years ago, at Mercury Bar, on Valentine’s day! Since then we’ve been inseparable. Andrew proposed last April, at Machu Picchu in Peru.”

“Andrew is from Virginia, and I grew up going to the Pocono Mountains, as my parents own property there. We wanted a country wedding and found a beautiful lake resort in Reeders, Pennsylvania, called Mountain Springs Lake Resort.”

In Love at The Liberty Warehouse: a Wedding in Red Hook

Red Hook mural

“Love is friendship set on fire.”– Jeremy Taylor

“Joshua and I met the first week of college and became fast friends,” said Jenny Ninyo Kaplan. The two studied abroad and became travel partners. In fact, they got along so well that they decided to move to New York City together, as friends. “After about a year of living together, we began to realize what we had was pretty special,” Jenny said. “And quite possibly more than just a best friendship. So we tried it out – and it worked! Three years later, we got engaged. A year and a half after that, we had the most amazing wedding in New York with all of our family and friends.” The couple married at Liberty Warehouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn, with New York Harbor providing a scenic backdrop for the ceremony. Traditionally, yellow flowers symbolize friendship. Jenny chose a fresh, sunny color palette for her bouquet, carrying white and yellow dahlias, chrysanthemums, ranunculus and craspedia. Hydrangeas, freesia, and roses in pale peach and bright yellow joined the mix to adorn the tables and chuppah. Mason jar vases of flowers and succulents hung at aisle ends, adding a touch of rustic charm. Lindsay and Noah said their vows under a dream-like white Chuppah studded with clusters of roses. We used color to achieve a perfect balance between timeless and modern for the classic ceremony and candlelit reception at New York Botanical Garden. Photographer Fred Marcus beautifully captured this smitten couple’s celebration.

We love using purple and lavender flowers for so many reasons. For outdoor weddings, purples are gorgeous against green grass and trees. Dresses in shades like plum and aubergine flatter nearly everyone, so bridesmaids look and feel their best. Here, we wrapped sweet lavender roses with deep berry ribbon to create the attendants’ bouquets.

The Perfect Affair at Battery Gardens

Esther and James were married in the Spring at Battery Gardens in the historic Battery Park. In case you did not know, “Battery Park is a 25-acre public park located at the Battery, the southern tip of Manhattan Island in New York City, facing New York Harbor.” (Wikipedia) Loved this beautiful location and designing the perfect arrangements for this affair!

The bouquets featured coral peonies, and were central to the design. This beautiful flower has limited seasonal availability making it a very special choice. When coupled with the peach garden roses and white-toned flowers, the peonies really pop from these color complements. I was inspired by this couple’s sophisticated arrangement choice, and thought their look went perfectly with the awe-inspiring venue. So much health and happiness to Esther and James!

Tracy Norton and Michael Fischer were married at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

When Tracy first approached us with her floral design request, we were more than delighted to be able to work with her. She picked out a beautiful array of flowers that suited her unique style, as well as fun and festive summertime wedding colors.  Her look also connected to a very vintage feel, which went perfectly with the ceremony and reception venue at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, as pictured above. Tracy’s bouquets and centerpieces featured a wide-variety of flowers, including peonies, garden roses, spray roses, orchids, succulents, and dusty millers. Her bouquets were lush, vibrant, and made a marvelous complement to her the style of her wedding dress, as well as the look of her bridesmaids, and one adorable flower girl.
