“Non-traditional best describes my bridal style. I originally wanted to wear a black or red, but not everyone shared my same enthusiasm,” recalls featured bride Claire. She continues, “That was fine though, because I fell in love with my dress the moment I put it on.” Here, Claire talks about her striking Pnina Tornai gown and personal touches that she incorporate into the big day.

Part 2: Wedding Dress & Personals

Wedding dress shopping is often met with mixed emotions. Searching through rack after rack of gorgeous frocks is fun and exciting… up to a point. Then the pressure and anxiety starts to set in. Claire escaped this scenario. Her “say yes to the dress” story is the kind we all wish for. “After trying on about six dresses at Kleinfeld, I tried on my dress and knew immediately it was the one. Even the sample size fit like a glove. It was the perfect combination of classy and sexy.” The showstopper by Israeli designer Pnina Tornai featured a fitted silhouette with an exquisite lace top, which descended down into a silk, floor-length skirt. With it’s delicate character and lovely fragrance, it’s no wonder that the freesia flower is a favorite among our spring brides. This bell-shaped bloom grows in a variety of colors including red, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and white. Lovely and playful, freesias look wonderful on their own or can be used as an accent flower.

Originating in South Africa, the story behind the flowers’s name goes back to the 19th century when the botanist, Christian P. Ecklon, named the bloom after his colleague, Friedrich H.T. Freese, to honor their friendship. Since then, the freesia has been associated friendship, trust, and innocence. What a perfect flower to have close by on the day when you are about to marry your best friend! After the ring is slipped on, one of the first things a bride-to-be thinks about is what she’s going to wear down the aisle. And when you have a specific vision of how it will look, finding the perfect dress can take some time and effort. Just ask Kate, our featured bride for May. “I was looking for a design with floral appliqué and lace. An open back was important as well. I had tried on so many dresses and none of them were what I hoped for. That is until I went to Spina Bride. It was like stepping into a wedding gown boutique set within a fairytale,” she remembers.

Ultimately, you want what you wear down the aisle to represent you. Today, we talk with our featured bride Sophia about the moment she knew when to say “yes to the dress.”

Part 2: Wedding Gown & Personals

Like many brides-to-be, Sophia began the search for her wedding dress online. The worldwide web can be an overwhelming place, especially when looking for something that means so much to you. As I went through the trying on process, it was the one that I would always compare the other dresses to. It didn’t take long before I knew that that first dress was the one for me.”
