Labor Day Wedding

As Labor Day is quickly approaching and summer is coming to an end, weddings are on the brain of all fall brides to be. September is the most popular month for weddings especially on the east coast where the weather is a bit crisper and foliage gives us a gorgeous array of color. While some flowers are now out of seaso……n there are tons of stunning options for fall floral arrangements. Consider dahlias, Chrysanthemums, and Asters. Many brides opt for non floral accents to commemorate the season like fall fruit, vegetables and leaves.

Wedding Accessories

That magical walk down the aisle starts with the long awaited bling, quickly becoming your new “best friend”. And that’s just the beginning of your wedding sparkle. While bling was once limited to bridal accessories and dress embellishments, stunning wedding jewelry is Hollywood’s hottest trend, splashed across the pages of bridal publications and prominently featured in wedding shows. Wedding bling can be used to accent centerpieces, canopies and cakes but is most commonly found in bouquets, adding glamour and a touch of elegance to your most sentimental blooms. You can find crystals and pearls in a variety of designs, colors and sizes. They are usually fashioned from crystals and rhinestones and even real diamonds, gems and pearls depending on your budget. Instead of the traditional bridesmaid’s gifts, if you want to do something special for your ladies in waiting, consider adding a beautiful touch to their bouquets as well and they can keep it as a momento. With so many brides looking to be unique this is one simple way to make your bouquet stand out. When it comes to your wedding day it’s the details that count!

Kissing Ball

Known as the kissing ball, pomanders are in high demand with today’s brides and are used for a range of décor – flower girls, ceremony aisles and reception decor. They are flowers shaped in a ball and simply suspended from a loop of decorative ribbon, rope or cord. They can be decorated and adorned with just about anything, some of my favorites are pearls and Swarovski crystals attached to thin floristry wire and placed in between each flower. Some churches don’t allow Rose petals and there’s also the risk that you could slip on the petals when walking down the aisle. Pomanders are practical and easy to hold, a great alternative to the traditional flower girl basket and perfect for older flower girls who aren’t quite junior bridesmaids. Little girls are always happy to carry flowers down the aisle like the “big girls”. Carnations or mums are the best flowers to use in pomanders since others can be heavy and don’t look as good in a tightly packed ball. The best thing about Carnations is that they are available in many different shades and colors to match your wedding decor and when used alone are modern and beautiful, not to mention easy on the budget. If you love the idea of a pomander but have your heart set on flower Petals, considering giving petals to guests in organza pouches to sprinkle as you and your groom exit the ceremony.

Spring Flowers

Loving all these gorgeous Spring flowers! May brides couldn’t be luckier…peonies are only in season for about a month every year and when they are fully open are so fluffy and fragrant. Makes for a stunning bouquet and complements almost any flower in an arrangement.
