The True Story of Valentine’s Day…

Did you know that Valentine’s Day dates back to the time of the Roman Empire during the reign of Claudius II, 270 A.D. Claudius didn’t want men to marry during wartime because he believed single men made better soldiers. Bishop Valentine went against his wishes and performed secret wedding ceremonies. For this, Valentine was jailed and then executed by order of the Emperor on Feb. 14. While in jail, he wrote a love note to the jailor’s daughter, signing it, “From your Valentine.” Sound familiar?

Check out some of our favorite Valentine’s Day arrangements.

A Remembrance of Spring

We just got these beautiful photos back from a wedding we did in May. The bride chose a romantic combination of blush pinks and white. Her primary flowers were Peonies which we accented with Stock and Roses. So many brides love Peonies since they are such a soft, romantic bloom. If you are lucky enough to be getting married in May there’s no better choice!

Fairytale Wedding at the Oheka Castle

Our last wedding at the Oheka Castle was magical to say the least. A combination of whismical reds, burgundy, purples and amaranthus made our table arrangements stand out from the elegant satin ivory tablecloths they were placed on. Dusting crystals and rose petals were spread on the sweetheart table but one of our favorite pieces was the wish table with an “Enchanted tree” inspired centerpiece. Enjoy the pics!

Vintage at The Foundry

The elegant vintage style of this wedding paired very well with The Foundry in Long Island City, NY. We loved eveything about it, the pale and soft feminine colors combined with rustic elements such as old suitcases and postcards.
