Bride & Blossom Supports Beautycounter: Safer, Healthier Beauty and Skincare Products

One of the best things about owning a wedding floral design company is getting to form meaningful relationships with our brides. I love the fact that 99% of Bride & Blossom’s clients are women. And while my work focuses on making sure their wedding day meets all expectations, the topic of beauty always comes up. Through conversations, I’ve learned that most of us share a concern that our makeup and skincare are not only effective, but also healthy. For this reason, I am excited to introduce Beautycounter, a revolutionary company committed to offering safe beauty and skincare products to women and their families.

A close friend told me about Beautycounter last year. I was immediately inspired by the company’s history and mission. Like many of us, founder, wife, and mother, Gregg Renfew, was applying lotions, foundations, lipsticks, and eye shadows to her face and body with no idea of what was actually in them. Curious, she started research on the personal care industry and uncovered shocking results.

There is a serious lack of regulation in the industry and many of the products we use on our skin every day contain unsafe ingredients and chemicals with links to serious health issues. In fact, the US has not passed a major federal law to regulate ingredients in personal care products since 1938. This means companies are allowed to make their own judgments about what is safe, use chemicals known to be extremely harmful in their products, and sell them to us with no questions asked. Taking the position “we all deserve better,” Beautycounter created The Never List, made up of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that are never used as ingredients in its products. From this list, the European Union has banned 1400, Canada has banned 600, while the US has only banned 30.

But how effective are Beautycounter’s products? I wanted to wait until I was 100% sure that Beautycounter was a brand that I could fully support and present to my clients and readers. After using the company’s makeup and skincare line for months, I can say with complete honesty, they work! The packaging is sleek and gorgeous. But more importantly, these products deliver results and have visibly improved the look and feel of my skin. Here are the products I can’t live without.

Beautycounter has a great baby and kids line as well, which my family loves.

Many of you are planning to have your own family someday. As women, it is especially important for us to be informed about cosmetics and skincare as products contain chemicals that disrupt the endocrine system. Beautycounter founder Gregg Renfew explains endocrine disruptors:

“The endocrine system is incredibly complex and important: It’s responsible for regulating everything from our mood, to our reproductive processes, to our growth and development, to our sexual function and metabolism. Exposure to endocrine (or hormone disruptors) is particularly scary because they’re so potent in small doses, as they mimic the hormones that our bodies produce in small amounts every day. Endocrine disrupting chemicals can lead to reproductive problems, metabolic issues, cancer, birth defects, and other devastating disorders.”

Beautycounter offers the chance for all of us to make safer, better decisions without sacrificing beauty. I am very passionate about Beautycounter and its mission, and joined their dynamic team as a consultant and advocate. I am learning so much right now. Because I truly care about the women I meet through Bride & Blossom, I am sharing this knowledge in the hope that others reconsider their everyday products and switch to healthier options.

Brides want to look and feel their absolute best walking down the aisle. And let’s not forget the bridesmaids. Wouldn’t it be wonderful for you and your best friends to achieve a perfect wedding day glow that is not only glamorous, but also healthy?
