Christina and Ben arrived at the University Club in grand style, escorted in a 1956 Rolls Royce Phantom. Upon seeing their reception for the first time, the bride says, “It felt like we were no longer in New York City, but had been transported back in time to a palace in Europe.” Here, Christina shares the final chapter in her Real BB Wedding Story.

Part 4: Reception & Centerpieces

The University Club’s interior unfolds in a labyrinth of spacious rooms trimmed with rich, sumptuous details and golden lighting. Falling under its spell is unavoidable. Underscoring this ‘magic-in-the-air’ feeling was a magnificent card table featuring a ‘tree’ adorned with lush florals. “There were ribbons hanging from the tree with guests’ name cards at the end. Since we were getting married on the first of May, the ribbons alluded to the Maypole tradition, which is celebrated on May Day,” Christina explains. “Bride & Blossom’s Carla did an amazing job of putting an artistic spin on the idea.”

Taking full advantage of the majestic setting’s likeness to “Beauty and the Beast”, the newlyweds had their photos taken while guests mingled at cocktail hour. “As soon as I saw the library, I knew that it would be where I wanted our pictures taken,” Christina remembers. “The room encapsulated our initial vision in every way imaginable.”

After a first round of toasts, everyone headed to the main dining room where they were greeted with a scene that looked just like an illustrated page from a fairytale. The tablescape was bedecked in arrangements of two different designs. The first style featured a gold candelabra topped with a romantic arrangement of roses, hydrangeas, lisianthus, lily of the valley, and thistle in shades of pale blue, blush, and white complemented by parvifolia eucalyptus, Italian ruscus, and dusty miller. Other tables were decorated with low centerpieces featuring similar flowers accented by taper candles. Christina confirms, “The ‘gold dress’ scene from the Disney film was the inspiration behind our reception décor.”

When the couple took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife, it was clear that their tale was going to be one of ‘happily ever after.’ The bride looks back and says, “It was the best day of my life.”
