‘Home is where the heart is.” While the saying is true, our relationship to ‘home’ has drastically changed this past year due to Covid-19. You can love the apartment, house, or condo in which you live, but having to carry out every aspect of your professional and personal life day in the same confined space day after day takes a toll. The reprieve that the holiday season usually offers from the stresses of work and life such as traveling and joyous visits with friends and family are not on the itinerary for 2020. This being said, we still have much for which to be grateful. If you haven’t made a list yet, try jotting down just a few lines detailing what you are thankful for – the exercise helps to shift perspective and uplift the spirit – guaranteed.

One way to avoid falling into complete scrooge-mode is to ‘deck the halls all merry and bright’ and the dinner table is a perfect place to start. We have decided to take a different approach to our annual round up of festive winter wedding centerpiece ideas. Instead of highlighting luxurious tablescapes, we are focusing on DIY arrangements that are easy to style and use accessible decor elements, many of which you already have on hand.

Make the table pop with a sweet display of bright clementines set in a wooden box accentuated with glowing votives. For a more graceful look, trade the wooden box out for a large crystal bowl.

Here’s a simple idea for elevating a long tablescape with a refined seasonal touch. After arranging fir trimmings into a garland table runner, place bronze taper candles throughout the greenery to create a scene fit for a royal winter’s ball.

Chances are you have a few pinecones lying around. Gather up any extras to use in a lovely submerged pinecone centerpiece with blossoms and greenery. Looking for ways to add a dash of glimmer? We suggest painting the pinecones in a shimmering color of your choice such as gold, rose gold, silver, copper, or metallic red, pink, or blue.

Radiating organic splendor, this table set up uses wood slices as the pedestal (a large plate or round charger would also work here) to display ivory candles of varying height trimmed with a wreath of fresh greenery.

Shiny holiday inspired home decor not only pleases the eye, but also has the power to completely change the look and feel of a space. Our lives have become smaller and more closed in from the rest of the outside world this past year, and we could all use a bright, fresh perspective of the place we call home. We hope these ideas motivate you to transform the dinner table – or any table for that matter – into a warm and beautiful spot offering comfort and joy.
