It’s an incredible thing to witness two people you care about get married. Imagine what it’s like to have this experience as one year gives way to another when feelings of love, joy, and excitement for new beginnings are at their peak. Here, BB Featured Bride Nicole talks about her and Matt’s heartfelt New Year’s Eve ceremony shared with family and friends.
Part 3: Ceremony and Flower Arch
Houston Hall’s warm and inviting atmosphere takes on an undeniable allure during winter. Nicole recalls falling for its charm and says, “Matt and I liked that the venue felt rustic and casual, yet it was a something we could dress up a little and instill our unique style.” Arriving for the couple’s end-of-2018 wedding, guests were happy to take shelter from the unseasonable rain, grab a drink, and settle in for an unforgettable night.
When a space exudes such distinct character as Houston Hall, choosing ceremony décor can be a bit tricky. “I started looking at inspiration on Pinterest,” Nicole says. Her vision of rustic meets romance took form in a breathtaking flower arch bursting with color and texture. Made of copper pipe, the backdrop featured asymmetrically arranged roses, snapdragons, carnations, ranunculus, and plumosas in shades burgundy, peach, pink, blush, and black. Flourishing eucalyptus, Italian ruscus, magnolia leaves, and salal leaves added dimension and shimmer (bits of greenery were painted gold) to the scene.
Escorted by her father and mother, Nicole entered the room where Matt was waiting for her to join him. More than anything, the couple wanted this part of their wedding to be personal, and a true reflection of their relationship. “We wrote our own vows,” Nicole explains. “Matt and I talked about what we want for each other as we spend the rest of our lives together.” And at this moment, their connection was so deep that everything else seemed to disappear. The bride remembers, “Exchanging our vows was extremely special for me – it honestly felt like no one was in the room except for us.” A close friend officiated the ceremony and after saying “I Do,” Nicole and Matt shared their first kiss as newlyweds.
