Vintage New York City Charm

Brooklyn wedding bouquet photo by Katie Osgood

“We absolutely adore how Leslie & Mark’s hip Brooklyn wedding embodies urban chic in each & every detail of the marvelous day.”

We are thrilled one of our weddings is featured on Borrowed & Blue. From a ceremony at the church where the groom’s great-grandparents got married, to a Brooklyn chic reception in Red Hook, this wedding was a true NYC charmer.

Leslie chose a classic, feminine color palette of white, blush and light pink for her wedding flowers. She knew she wanted her bridal bouquet to have a rounded but natural look, so we created a hand-tied bouquet with white roses, blush garden roses, white lisianthus and blush ranunculus.

In Perfect Harmony: Musicians Getting Married

Wedding in NYBG

From the night Alison and Alistair met, they have been — literally– making beautiful music together. There is something so romantic about artists who fall in love through their creative work, and begin to collaborate. This lush wedding at New York Botanical Garden was one of our summer favorites. Bride Alison tells their love story:

“My husband Alistair and I are both professional musicians. He is a cellist and I am an opera singer. In August of 2010 we were hired to make a promotional recording for an opera that we would perform a year later. The evening started out with a large group of people and we recorded the group numbers. As the night progressed, more and more singers and instrumentalists were released, leaving just a very small group, including me and my husband, who was just a mysterious, smiley, excellent cellist stranger to me at the time. We recorded the final number of the night, a very dramatic aria sung by me, with Alistair playing a very prominent, collaborative role.

Perfection in The Poconos

Poconos wedding

So many charming details came together to make Stephanie and Andrew’s wedding really special. This couple seemed destined for a perfectly romantic wedding from day one.

“I am an NYC girl who somehow managed to find a southern boy in this big city,” said Stephanie. “We met almost five years ago, at Mercury Bar, on Valentine’s day! Since then we’ve been inseparable. Andrew proposed last April, at Machu Picchu in Peru.”

“Andrew is from Virginia, and I grew up going to the Pocono Mountains, as my parents own property there. We wanted a country wedding and found a beautiful lake resort in Reeders, Pennsylvania, called Mountain Springs Lake Resort.”

“When Mike and I got engaged we looked at a few venues, but I had always known that the Brooklyn Botanic Garden was where I wanted to get married. I grew up in Brooklyn and there was always something special about going to the gardens,” said Tracy. “I was a flower girl there, along with my little sister, when I was ten and she was six.”

Lindsay and Noah said their vows under a dream-like white Chuppah studded with clusters of roses. We used color to achieve a perfect balance between timeless and modern for the classic ceremony and candlelit reception at New York Botanical Garden. Photographer Fred Marcus beautifully captured this smitten couple’s celebration.

We love using purple and lavender flowers for so many reasons. For outdoor weddings, purples are gorgeous against green grass and trees. Dresses in shades like plum and aubergine flatter nearly everyone, so bridesmaids look and feel their best. Here, we wrapped sweet lavender roses with deep berry ribbon to create the attendants’ bouquets.

Manhattan Wedding With a Skyline View

“What is more dramatic, even romantic, than the tumbled towers of lower Manhattan, rising suddenly to the clouds like a magic castle girdled by water?” ― Jane Jacobs, The Death and Life of Great American Cities

New York City bride Julissa wanted a celebration with a Manhattan skyline view for her late summer wedding. Planner Leslie Short of K.I.M. Media, who specializes in weddings with a Latin flair, knew a perfect spot.

“They were looking for an indoor and outdoor venue with a quiet sophistication about it. Tribeca Rooftop fit the bill,” said Short. “When we walked in Julissa got chills and said, ‘This is my venue!'”
