In an effort to stay positive, motivated, and make the best of the situation this past year, many of us set goals, which often involved learning a new skill or tackling a challenging project. Intentions were good starting out and we were excited to master a foreign language, finally finish those home improvements, and dust off the sewing machine. But as weeks turned into months turned into a year and counting, that initial drive ‘to make and do’ waned. The characters, story lines (often romantic and full of drama!), fabulous costumes, and idyllic scenery offered escapism from the harsh realities unfolding around us daily.

“There was a lot that went into making our day special. The morning of our wedding, we decided to simply accept everything as it was. Standing in the same spot later that evening, we looked each other and said, ‘We did it.’” Here, featured bride Heather shares the final chapter in her Real BB Wedding Story.

After the rooftop­ ceremony, guests gathered for cocktail hour to raise the first of many toasts honoring the newlyweds. Then it was off to the Vale Ballroom where a magnificent scene awaited them. “We knew that we wanted a transformation between the ceremony and the reception,” the bride says. “Our all-white ceremony was followed by the most colorful reception. We loved that everyone was like, ‘What did I just walk into?’ They were so surprised!”

When Heather first met Amos the Thursday before Memorial Day in 2008, she knew there was something special about him. “I work in the spirits industry and was doing a tasting in the Hamptons during the holiday weekend. I told him that in order for us to have a first date, he would have to get himself a hotel room out there. Finding a hotel in the Hamptons around Memorial Day is near impossible, especially on such short notice. But, somehow, he did it! That really gave me insight into the kind of person Amos is.”

For those of us not fortunate enough to live in eternal warmth, spring often signifies the much-welcomed peeling off restrictive layers, heavy woolen wraps and full length casings that double as winter coats. We’ve traded our cumbersome snow gear for the tailored sophistication of a trench coat and kitten heels.
