The top wedding experts seem to be on the same page when it comes to forecasting wedding trends for 2023 – it’s going to be an incredible year to say ‘I do.’ Extravagant welcome and after-parties, mismatched bridesmaids dresses, regal bridal attire, Art-Deco style engagement rings, and cash registries were repeatedly mentioned in conversations about ‘what’s in’ for 2023. Reading through the various lists, we placed our focus on flowers and decor. What struck us about these ‘trends,’ a term we use very loosely, is that they are not trends at all. By this, we mean an ‘of the moment thing’ that looks cool on Instagram, but has no hope of aging well. Rather, these ‘trends’ point toward a collective shift in couples’ perspectives regarding how they want their wedding to look and feel in a ‘post-pandemic’ moment. Our lives have been forever changed. Naturally, the way we approach major life events will be different too. Pomp and circumstance give way to authenticity and sentiment revealing the current mood for 2023 – weddings are to be joyful celebrations bursting with unfiltered love and emotion.

You’ve probably heard the term ‘maximalism’ used to describe a style of interior design. It’s joyful, dramatic, and emotional all at the same time – everything you want to feel on the day you get married. This got us thinking – we are used to hearing the term ‘minimalist’ applied to wedding flowers and decor. But what about the opposite end of the design spectrum where the sky’s the limit (literally and figuratively)?

Kelsey and Matt Wedding – Succulent Escort Cards – New York Botanical Garden – Hitches and Unions

The traditional paper escort card certainly has its place in the history of wedding planning and design. After finding their assigned seats, guests typically toss these rectangular pieces of paper to the side without giving them a second thought. Rather than being purely functional and let’s be honest, run-of-the-mill, what if this essential wedding component was a conversation starter and something your guests actually want to keep?

The great thing about escort cards is that they allow couples to play up their wedding aesthetic and personality while offering the chance to veer off brand a little – there’s no rule saying you can’t incorporate gilded miniature dinosaurs into an elegant all white wedding! You can have the most extravagant florals in the most luxurious venue, but it’s the unique and personal details of your wedding that everyone remembers most. From artistic to fun to thoughtful, we rounded up creative escort card ideas guaranteed to surprise your guests.

The bridal bouquet can be traced back to ancient Rome when women carried or wore flower garlands, believing that the blooms represented new beginnings, fidelity, and fertility. There are many reasons for wanting lofty table décor – it commands the eye while creating an alluring reception atmosphere. From a practical standpoint, a high centerpiece allows for more space below to accommodate the ever-flowing drinks and cuisine. One major trend we saw in our 2019 Real BB Weddings was the harlow stand. Taking the place of a tall vase, the harlow stand is 4-post metal structure used to display flowers. It is available in various heights and colors such as gold, silver, bronze, and black.
