The stars were aligned from the moment Danielle and Noah first met. Danielle was riding the LIRR headed out to the Hamptons when a friend recognized her. As they caught up, she immediately noticed the cute guy her friend was traveling with. His name was Noah and they started chatting. He offered her a sip of his beer and they hit if off immediately. “I don’t fully believe in ‘everything happens for a reason,’ Danielle recalls, “But I do believe August 19, 2013 happened for a reason.” Their wedding story is as close as it gets to a modern day fairy tale. Anna and Matt were married last September in a beautiful ceremony and reception at The Pierre in Manhattan.
Anna & Matthew Wedding – Bride and Groom – Pierre Hotel NYC – by Brett Matthews
For most, a Phish show is not the first place that comes to mind for meeting your future husband. But a Phish show in Saratoga Springs, NY was exactly where Anna met Matt. She recalls, “We stood next to each other on the lawn during the first evening of a three night show. There were around 30,000 fans there!”
Anna and Matt hit it off immediately that first night, kept in touch, and began dating. They soon learned that in addition to Phish, they both share a love of travel. When asked which of their trips together was her favorite, Anna replied, “Our trip to Thailand, because that was where we got engaged!” She remembers, “We were staying at the Four Seasons in Chiang Mai. I had a sense that Matt was going to ask. One evening, he planned a private dinner for just the two of us in a gazebo overlooking a gorgeous lake that’s on the property. There was a musician and bonfire as well. Matt really went the whole nine yards with everything and was so nervous leading up to it. But then he finally proposed. It was perfect!” Read More
Nicole and Frank met in August 2007, on a cruise ship called The Norwegian Dawn, where they were vacationing separately with their families. After exchanging glances in the gym, their paths crossed again at dinner, where Frank claims it was “love at second sight.”
For years, Nicole talked about how much she wanted a black-and-white French bulldog to name Tuxedo, but always stopped herself from going through with the adoption due to her busy work schedule. Turns out Frank was listening!
Nicole & Tuxedo
On a Wednesday night in November 2014, Frank was moving the last of his boxes into their new shared apartment in Williamsburg. But when Nicole opened the door to help him carry what she assumed was a box of clothes, she was greeted instead by an eight-week-old black and white French bulldog with an engagement ring around his neck. “I will never forget that day!” says Nicole, “I did not know what to pay attention to first – the puppy or the ring?” Read More
Every Sunday, Rachel and her friends would gather to watch The Amazing Race and draft fantasy teams. One night, Rachel’s friend Becky suggested she go out with a friend of hers from middle school, Matt. After checking out some pictures on Facebook, Rachel gave the thumbs up!
Matt and Rachel began texting nonstop. Matt was traveling for work at the time and was impressed that Rachel knew Bloomington, IL. They texted and talked on the phone throughout the week before their first date Friday night at Bistro 61.
On Memorial Day weekend, Matt was off from work on Friday. He told Rachel he would go shopping and prepare a nice dinner for the two of them that evening, but when Rachel walked in the door to their shared apartment, there were candles and roses everywhere, and a pathway leading to Matt. Matt proposed, she said yes, and they gathered for a surprise dinner with both of their families at Daniel. Rachel thought they had plans to go look at rings that holiday weekend, so she was shocked! Melanie and Graig first met in October 2005, as they were leaving the bar PS450 in Kips Bay. Melanie gave Graig her business card before scurrying into a cab home with her friends. They exchanged only occasional emails over the next ten years, even after discovering a mutual friend (a friend of Melanie’s and also Graig’s sister) suggested to them separately that they go out on a date – they never listened. Finally, Graig’s sister approached Melanie at the friend’s wedding, exclaiming, Can you just go out with my brother already? to which Melanie replied with, Go tell him I say hi! So at last, a decade after making one another’s acquaintance, Greg got Melanie’s number and asked her out on a date! After that it was as if they had known each other forever…or 10 years! Read More
Katlyn and Phil’s wedding, at Manhattan’s Battery Gardens, was a study in chic minimalism. When we first spoke with this beautiful bride, she had a clear concept: simple elegance, with a black, white and champagne wedding-color scheme and all white wedding flowers. Her vision was well suited to Battery Gardens, a sophisticated Manhattan wedding venue with a stunning water view.
When we design classic wedding flowers within a monochromatic color scheme, we love the look of bouquets composed of similar types of wedding flowers. For Katlyn’s bridal bouquet we used standard roses combined with garden roses. Textural variation kept her classic white bouquet contemporary. Bridesmaids’ bouquets were composed simply of white mini calla lilies. Read More
