Greenery Guide

Accenting your bouquet or arrangements with greenery gives the finished piece shape, body, and context for the accompanying colors.  Whether you dream of bountiful greens spilling out to give a bouquet a waterfall effect, or just a few dots of foliage to set your blooms in a natural frame, there are infinite options to accentuate your color scheme and design goals.  Here’s a quick guide to some of the greens we use most often here at Bride & Blossom for bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces.

Seeded Eucalyptus

Seeded Eucalyptus is one of the most popular and versatile options for bouquets and arrangements alike.  With both long, smooth leaves and clusters of small seeds growing freely along the stem, seeded eucalyptus lends itself well to boho and vintage-inspired looks.

Meet Our Design Team

We are so fortunate here at Bride & Blossom to have so many incredibly talented and creative designers working as part of our B&B family.  Our designers come to us with diverse skill sets and experiences, and we assign arrangements based on their strengths, to best execute each client’s unique vision and bring their proposals to life. We chatted with three of our talented team members  about how they got into the industry, what a typical day at the studio entails, and what it takes to be an extraordinary floral designer.

How did you get into floral design? Why were you attracted to it?

I was a beauty school drop out, for real! I took Cosmetology in a Vocational High School and hated it. But I did fall in love with the Horticulture Program – and that is how I “blossomed” out into flowers. I was attracted to the freedom of it. I liked the way the flowers smelled and the way you could make them look so interesting and pretty. I liked that they brought others so much joy.

The Bride Carried White : Unlocking the All-White Bridal Bouquet

While some brides may dismiss the idea of an all-white bouquet as generic or forgettable, in truth, there are so many ways to express your unique personal style in all-white. The absence of color unlocks a focus on texture, composition, and tone that goes to show sometimes less really is more. “No matter what the flower or style, white bouquets always look beautiful and chic,” says our Creative Director Lindsay Saltz, “As Da Vinci once said, ‘Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication.'”

Here at Bride & Blossom, we’ve worked with dozens of brides seeking all-white bouquets, from vintage to modern, clean to complex.  But no matter the design, a white bouquet is a timeless choice, rich with tradition and symbolic of the bride’s entrance into a fresh, new chapter of her life.

We’ve all seen movies where the bride & groom clank away in their decked out wedding car, but in Italy it’s often a reality for the couple to make their first exit as man and wife in a car covered in fresh blooms.  As they drive off to wedded bliss, passersby will honk and shout “Auguri!” to wish the new couple a long and joyous marriage.

Nicole + Frank : Modern Magic at The Woodmere Club

Nicole and Frank met in August 2007, on a cruise ship called The Norwegian Dawn, where they were vacationing separately with their families. After exchanging glances in the gym, their paths crossed again at dinner, where Frank claims it was “love at second sight.”

For years, Nicole talked about how much she wanted a black-and-white French bulldog to name Tuxedo, but always stopped herself from going through with the adoption due to her busy work schedule.  Turns out Frank was listening!

On a Wednesday night in November 2014, Frank was moving the last of his boxes into their new shared apartment in Williamsburg.  But when Nicole opened the door to help him carry what she assumed was a box of clothes, she was greeted instead by an eight-week-old black and white French bulldog with an engagement ring around his neck. “I will never forget that day!” says Nicole, “I did not know what to pay attention to first – the puppy or the ring?”
