The dress, jewelry, and flowers, – these are the elements that make up a bride’s armor so to speak. She chooses each with the utmost thought and care as they define how she wants to look and feel on the biggest day of her life. This is particularly true for the woman getting married in a traditional Indian wedding. Here, our BB Featured Bride Rashna talks about her ceremonial attire and accessories.

Bridal Attire, Henna, & Jewelry

When it came time to start searching for what she was going to wear at her wedding, Rashna got to skip the usual process of jumping from appointment to appointment at the local bridal boutiques. She explains, “My wedding dress had to be a traditional South Indian kanjeevaram saree. But I was lucky, because I was able to pick out my colors.” She chose a stunning jewel tone yellow and orange saree decorated with gold accents.

One of the best parts of our job is seeing a wedding become a marriage of different cultures. Special rituals, customs, and traditions bond two people together in a way that happens once in a lifetime. We’ve all seen movies where the bride & groom clank away in their decked out wedding car, but in Italy it’s often a reality for the couple to make their first exit as man and wife in a car covered in fresh blooms.  As they drive off to wedded bliss, passersby will honk and shout “Auguri!” to wish the new couple a long and joyous marriage.

California Dreaming with Carats & Cake

Here on the East Coast, we often look to the other side for inspiration. West Coast weddings have a particular vibe: soft colors, outdoor settings (thanks to their perpetually perfect weather!), bohemian brides. We looked to one of our favorite websites, Carats & Cake, and picked out a few of the California weddings that dreams are made of.

Elizabeth & Eric, Palm Springs

With California’s majestic mountains, palm trees, and lush greenery providing the backdrop, this ceremony is everything a traditional Cali wedding should be. We love the touches of Hollywood-style glamour that offset the natural beauty of the location.

Venue: Avalon Hotel, Palm Springs
