Bride & Blossom Featured Bride Marianna On Her Floating Chuppah

One of the best things about being a floral designer in New York City is working with brides who incorporate their own special traditions into their wedding day. The chuppah, a significant feature of a Jewish ceremony symbolizing the home of the soon-to-be married couple, lets a bride be creative and express their personality and style. This week, we talked with our featured bride Marianna about her jaw-dropping chuppah and how she felt on her wedding day.

Part 2: Gown & Personals

When we asked Marianna about saying yes to the dress, she told us, “I knew I wanted a classic Vera Wang sweetheart ball gown. I only tried on four dresses, and the last dress was the one I went with. I immediately fell in love with the classic design and long bridal train. I knew it was the perfect dress because I felt like a princess.” Not many brides-to-be have it this easy in the hunt for a wedding dress. But take just one look at Marianna wearing her breathtaking Dagmar gown by Vera Wang and you can tell that it was meant to be. The couple met at a mutual friend’s wedding in Tulum, and while they lived on opposite coasts at the time, they enjoyed each other’s company so much they started dating long distance right away. One year later, James proposed on a romantic weekend getaway in Paris.

With their family and friends gathering from California and the UK, James and Adriana chose to tie the knot in NYC because it was right in the middle.  “Since most of our guests would be coming from out of town, we wanted a venue that would truly capture the spirit of the city,” says Adriana, “We also knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony because we both really love New York in the fall.” After hearing about Battery Gardens through a friend, the couple took a peek during one of their frequent quick trips to the city, and fell in love with it instantly.

Bouquet Recipe: Sweet Succulents

Sweet Succulent Bouquet Recipe

This bouquet recipe from Amanda Reppond’s wedding at the Picnic House in Prospect Park uses a classic pink and green color scheme to achieve a preppy, elegant style with a unique twist. The unexpected pairing of miniature succulents with traditional white roses, accented by splashes of pink and lime from green viburnum and pink lisianthus, make this bouquet as unforgettable as Amanda’s special day.
