With it’s delicate character and lovely fragrance, it’s no wonder that the freesia flower is a favorite among our spring brides. This bell-shaped bloom grows in a variety of colors including red, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and white. Lovely and playful, freesias look wonderful on their own or can be used as an accent flower.

Originating in South Africa, the story behind the flowers’s name goes back to the 19th century when the botanist, Christian P. Ecklon, named the bloom after his colleague, Friedrich H.T. Freese, to honor their friendship. Since then, the freesia has been associated friendship, trust, and innocence. What a perfect flower to have close by on the day when you are about to marry your best friend! From bouquets and centerpieces to the wedding cake, here are pretty wedding decor ideas that incorporate freesias.

Finding your wedding dress can be a daunting task. You want to feel and look beautiful as soon as you put it on. You want the dress to be something you can’t stop thinking about even while sifting through rack after rack of other beautiful designs. Ultimately, you want what you wear down the aisle to represent you. Today, we talk with our featured bride Sophia about the moment she knew when to say “yes to the dress.”

Part 2: Wedding Gown & Personals

Like many brides-to-be, Sophia began the search for her wedding dress online. The worldwide web can be an overwhelming place, especially when looking for something that means so much to you. Sophia had an easier time than most though. “I spent a lot of time on the Internet looking for wedding dresses and found one that I kept going back to. Watching two people start their new life together is one of the best things about weddings. And let’s not forget about the post-ceremony celebrations! For their Guastavino’s reception, Madalyn and Jon underscored the venue’s magnificent interior with décor that was high-impact, yet sophisticated. Still, the night’s mood was joyous and full of energy with guests partying well into the late hours. Here’s the final chapter of Madalyn and Jon’s Bride & Blossom wedding story.

Part 4: Reception, Card Table, and Dance Floor

After Madalyn and Jon said “I do”, festivities got underway with a cocktail hour. “For the reception, I knew that I wanted to have the ceremony flowers suspended over the dance floor,” Madalyn says. We love when a bride puts a unique spin on wedding traditions. Symbolizing the home of the soon-to-be newlyweds, the chuppah is one of the most important aspects of the Jewish wedding ceremony. It also lets the bride be creative with décor, and express their personality and style. This week, we talked with our featured bride Madalyn about her breathtaking Lucite and suspended floral chuppah.

Part 3: Ceremony

When guests began arriving at Guastavino’s for Madalyn and Jon’s wedding, New York City was in the midst of its first snowfall of the season. Everyone was more than happy to take cover inside the warm, picturesque venue, but what they were about to see would exceed all expectations.
