We Love: Invitations by Two Paperdolls

image

These exquisite programs enchanted guests at Claire Pettibone’s Bridal Fashion Week runway presentation and introduced us to Two Paperdolls. Laser-cut paper lace complemented the intricately embellished gowns of Pettibone’s Gothic Angels collection. Soon after the show, we swooned over the studio’s portfolio of wedding invitations. Luxury letterpress, created on antique printing presses, features custom graphics, intricate calligraphy and eye-catching detail.

Embellished Bouquets for Extra Sparkle

Flowers bring beauty, freshness and wonder to weddings. How flowers are presented can express creativity, mood, and the personality of the bride. This is why we love to design wedding flowers. Using some of nature’s most incredible creations to enhance and communicate the spirit of love and celebration never gets old because every bride and every wedding is unique.

Brides planning a rustic wedding may dream of carrying flowers that feel as if they were just gathered from a field. Natural-looking bouquets incorporating leafy stems and wildflowers are charming with simple, gauzy gowns and hair worn in loose waves or braids.

For formal affairs, many brides choose a more structured bouquet. Symmetrical compositions and understated wraps show off the beauty of impeccable blossoms and look perfect carried by brides wearing chic updos, classic jewelry and elegant gowns.

Live Event Painters Make Your Wedding a Work of Art

Now that digital technology makes documenting and sharing every wedding detail simple and expected, couples who crave a classic touch hire live event painters to capture celebrations on canvas in real time. Of course wedding paintings actually predate photography. In many cultures, couples sat for formal portraits which became family heirlooms. Today’s live paintings are sure to be just as cherished.

The event painting trend began to emerge about a decade ago, gathered speed due to social media, and grew exponentially after a piece in the New York Times.

Painters meet first with the couple to understand their taste and preferences. As anyone working in the wedding industry knows, customization is vital. That said, individual painters each have their own style. Some artists depict realistic detail and color, while others produce more stylized work. My personal favorites leave faces and tables somewhat blurred, capturing the happy rush of the dance floor, and let recognizable glimpses emerge: a bridesmaid’s posture, or the play of candlelight against floral centerpieces in glass. Fresh flowers bring so much beauty and romance to a wedding cake. It’s no wonder this look is trending. Decorating a cake with real blossoms is just one more way to bring nature’s vibrance to your celebration. Here are some wedding cakes wearing flowers we designed.

Inspiring photos of flower-adorned cakes are pinned all over the bridal blogosphere. I noticed questions and concerns about safety. While it’s true that many flowers are not edible, professional bakers and florists know behind-the-scenes tricks that ensure cakes stay pristine. Arrangements are often composed and attached to small platforms before being carefully placed upon fondant-covered tiers. Stems are wrapped or encased tiny tubes. Servers know to remove floral decorations as the cake is cut, so guests avoid stray petals. It’s wedding magic! Read More

The Perfect Affair at Battery Gardens

Esther and James were married in the Spring at Battery Gardens in the historic Battery Park. In case you did not know, “Battery Park is a 25-acre public park located at the Battery, the southern tip of Manhattan Island in New York City, facing New York Harbor.” (Wikipedia) Loved this beautiful location and designing the perfect arrangements for this affair!

The bouquets featured coral peonies, and were central to the design. This beautiful flower has limited seasonal availability making it a very special choice. When coupled with the peach garden roses and white-toned flowers, the peonies really pop from these color complements. I was inspired by this couple’s sophisticated arrangement choice, and thought their look went perfectly with the awe-inspiring venue. So much health and happiness to Esther and James!
