You don’t have to be the ‘resolutions’ type to use January 1st as the day to take stock of all that has happened in your life during the previous twelve months. For us, 2021 was marked by growth, new experiences, and gratitude. After an extremely tumultuous 2020, we joined fellow vendors in wading back into the waters of wedding planning and production. To be part of the behind-the-scenes magic that goes into creating the most important event in a couple’s life together is never lost on us. The sentiment was felt especially hard this past year as we watched our clients finally have their big day after countless, often soul-crushing postponements.

What also stood out to us was how our couples never gave up on having their dream wedding despite all the challenges and distractions facing them. If anything, COVID-19 forced a momentary pause to consider what truly mattered most. Couples found fresh and creative ways to imbue meaning, personality, and in many cases, a sense of humor in just about every detail from the flowers, decor, and fashion to cuisine and entertainment. There seemed to be less focus on everything being ‘perfect’ and more focus on ‘being in the moment.’ This precious space where nothing is forced, but feels genuine and from the heart is where unforgettable wedding memories are made. For these reasons and more, we are excited to share highlights from our Real BB Weddings of 2021.

A Tranquil Waterside Affair at The Surf Lodge
NYC’s plummeting temps have us dreaming of warmer days surrounded by peaceful waters and open skies. Natalie and Matt’s late summer wedding at The Surf Lodge encapsulated the effortless beauty and culture that makes Montauk one of the East Coast’s great escapes. With Montauk’s picturesque harbor in the background, the couple exchanged vows under a chuppah of white florals  and greenery accented with chiffon draping. Their celebration took place over an elegant and chic tablescape lined with petite arrangements of crisp white blooms.

Classic Charm at The Plainfield Country Club
The Plainfield Country Club’s picturesque grounds provided the perfect setting for Carolyn and Craig’s August nuptials. The couple exchanged vows under a blossoming four-post archway with chiffon draping adorned with cascading greenery and soft pink, blush, and ivory blossoms. Table decor featured low, lush centerpieces enhanced by floating stem candles and classic blue linens.

A Chic Brooklyn Wedding at 74 Wythe
The past wedding season introduced us to new venues like 74 Wythe in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It’s always exciting to dress up a space for the first time and Jen and Trevor’s wedding captured the look and feel of a modern garden tucked away within an urban setting. With a stunning view of Manhattan in the distance, the ceremony atmosphere unfolded with hanging greenery and lighting over a floating archway. Reception decor centered on a long tablescape topped with romantic greenery and burgundy and white florals, elegant taper candles, and stylish black linens.

A Classically Modern Affair at Tribeca 360°
We had a handful of weddings at Tribeca 360°+ Rooftop this past year. As one of our favorite venues to dress up, it offers versatility for decor like no other. Seeing how couples make use of the space to express their personal style is always a joy. For their unforgettable June wedding mixing classic florals with modern elements, BB Featured Bride Courtney and Nathan exchanged vows under a blossoming chuppah featuring a simple white and green palette. Reception decor focused on crisp white blooms complemented by sleek glass accents that included floating stemmed candles.

A New York City Fairytale at The University Club
BB Featured Bride Christina and Ben met while working as performers for Disney Cruise Lines. Marked by its stately architecture, a warmly lit interior, and majestic library, The University Club bears a remarkable likeness to Beauty & the Beast – the couple’s favorite fairytale. Putting a sophisticated spin on the Disney classic, they chose romantic florals captured in a palette of white and green with subtle notes of blue embellished with gold accents that included elegant candelabra centerpieces.

An Enchanted Soirée at The New York Botanical Garden
Celebrated for its breathtaking gardens and striking grounds, the New York Botanical Garden offers endless inspiration for wedding decor year-round. Sara and Alex’s wedding captured the secret garden romance that is felt during mid-summer when the garden is in full bloom. The couple’s ceremony took place under a bright pink, blush, and white floral and greenery chuppah, and was followed by a celebration featuring dynamic table decor expressed in glowing submerged bloom centerpieces alongside towering tree-like arrangements.

A Romantic Spring Wedding in Manhattan
Ask anyone who has been lucky enough to experience it, spring love in New York City is a rare and beautiful thing. From the blooming decor to stylish attire, Lianne and Justin’s early June wedding captured this sentiment in every detail. The couple exchanged vows in a rooftop ceremony under a natural, voluminous archway at The Library Hotel. A reception followed at Madison & Vine where long tables were decorated with low, garden inspired arrangements illuminated by candlelight.

Bohemian Romance at Tribeca Rooftop
After postponing their wedding for a year, BB Featured Bride Joye and Scott married on the Fourth of July at Tribeca Rooftop. Researching decor ideas, Joy fell in love with the look of Pampas grass and palm leaves, but wondered how the style would translate into a downtown NYC wedding (it worked!). The natural earthiness of these elements was paired with gorgeous blush and neutral hued blooms to create ceremony and reception decor that radiated bohemian romance with a modern twist.

A Tropical Paradise Wedding Overlooking The Water
Just because a destination wedding is just about impossible to pull off right now doesn’t mean your big day can’t be the tropical paradise celebration you have always dreamed of. We collaborated with ES Blooms on this unforgettable wedding, which took place last summer on Long Island. Inspired by the lush, exotic blooms and foliage of the islands, ceremony and reception decor erupted in a vibrant mix of fan palms, banana leaves, monstera, orchids, birds of paradise, and anthurium complemented by natural wood and wicker accents.

Romantic Elegance at The New York Botanical Garden
In addition to the breathtaking setting, the New York Botanical Garden appealed to BB Featured Bride Allison and Josh because it would be a place they could visit with their future family for years to come. For their late August wedding, the couple looked to the Garden’s seasonal blooms for decor inspiration. Evoking romantic elegance, their chuppah featured verdant greenery accentuated with lovely blush and white flowers, which carried over to the reception where elements such as harlow stands and uplighting added a dramatic, modern feel to the celebration.

A Beautiful, Intimate Wedding at Aurora Brooklyn
The trend of smaller, intimate weddings in hidden gem venues continued through 2021. We look forward to the creative possibilities these scaled-down venues offer and Melanie and Michael’s late July nuptials at Aurora Brooklyn in Williamsburg were a highlight of the summer. The couple exchanged vows against an archway bursting with verdant greenery and distinctive blossoms in shades of soft pink, pale peach, cream, and white accentuated with stems of Pampas grass. Their inviting reception tablescape featured a series of small arrangements of natural florals complemented by votive candles and sheer gauze linens.

With its sky-high outdoor patio and polished reception space, Tribeca Rooftop had everything BB Featured Bride Sammi wanted for her high glamour wedding. A jaw-dropping expression of the bride’s favorite color pink, flowers flowed in a palette ranging from blush to magenta in as many types of flowers as imaginable. After exchanging vows under an elegant Lucite chuppah topped with light pink, white, and ivory blooms, Sammi and Steven celebrated with a reception laid out in a dynamic tablescape of three uniquely styled centerpieces featuring bright and lively florals.

Rianna and Alex exchanged vows on a picture-perfect autumn day at Hilton Pearl River. Sophisticated with an organic twist, the couple’s chuppah took shape with voluminous, cascading greenery and white florals atop Lucite posts.
