In the age of dating apps, so many things need to be in sync for two people to hit it off on the first meeting. Past experiences and expectations are significant factors in this type of situation and both individuals may not be on the same page. Time, in some cases, however, works out the kinks of matchmaking. Allison recalls her first date with Josh. “We initially connected in 2017 on Hinge. We got drinks and the date went well enough that we both seemed open to seeing each other again.” They made plans for a second date at the Comedy Cellar only to have Josh cancel at the last minute. “Josh pretty much ghosted me for the next six months. I had just been on a great first date when he re-emerged. Something told me to give him another chance. It’s part of our story, though a part we kept from our families until it was revealed at our wedding,” she says with a laugh.

The beach is where it all began for Bride & Blossom. It was Founder Rachel Trimarco’s waterside nuptials that planted the seed, which would eventually grow into a luxury floral design & styling boutique. Rachel visualized the floral landscape for her own wedding. On the morning of, a-bride-to-be walked through the venue and liked the flowers so much that she requested contact information for the florist. That bride became Rachel’s first client.

In the past twelve years since then, the sense of joy and excitement felt as summer begins and weddings head to venues lined with sandy beaches and picturesque seascape views is just as strong. After a year and a half of pandemic lockdown that greatly impacted how we gather and celebrate lifetime events, we are especially looking forward to this upcoming season. In addition to the breathtaking setting, what makes beach venues in the New York City area so alluring is that they offer the look and feel of a destination wedding without all the added planning, stress, and expenses.

You have researched and pinned ‘all things’ flowers, but have you given any deep thought to the greenery that you will use in your wedding ceremony backdrop? This is a question we ask all of our clients and in most cases, the answer is ‘no.’ Understandably, as leaves and stems usually play a supporting role to the real stars of the show – roses, peonies, orchids, and dahlias. But like any great movie or play, unforgettable wedding decor is dependent on the chemistry between the entire cast.

If anything, planning a wedding during a global pandemic gives leeway for a couple to make out-of-the-box choices. As COVID-19 forced Cara and Vince to reconsider their original vision, they found themselves putting together a day full of personal touches. “We wanted a more nontraditional ceremony,” the bride says. They even opted not to have a standard wedding party. “At the end, we wanted everything to feel very intimate with just us standing at the arch.” Here, Cara talks about exchanging heartfelt vows in front of their closest friends and family.

After meeting on Match.com, Cara and Vince had their first phone call. It was morning by the time they finally hung up and six hours had gone by without either of them noticing. They decided to get together in person two days later. Their connection was immediate and felt effortless from the very beginning. “I knew that I wanted to be with Vince from the moment that he looked at me through the front door on our first date,” she recalls.

We are excited to introduce Cara, our BB Featured Bride for February. Cara and Vince married on an unforgettable October day in the backyard of their home in Pennsylvania. Here, she shares the first chapter in their Real BB Wedding story.

This time last year, no one could have predicted what 2020 had in store for us. We rang in the New Year excited for a new chapter of Real BB Weddings. This all quickly changed in the face of a worldwide pandemic. It became clear that weddings, perhaps the most social event of them all, would be greatly affected as our new reality unfolded by the day.

If anything, 2020 has forced us to change perspective and consider what is most important and valuable in our lives. The handful of weddings we did are a testament to this new sentiment. Faced with an unprecedented list of challenges, couples shifted their focus and asked, “How can we make the most of this day given the situation and make it feel special and meaningful?” Large and lavish celebrations gave way to small, intimate gatherings where every detail was heartfelt and thoughtful (not that they weren’t before, but you get the idea). And friends and family who couldn’t be there in person joined via Zoom and FaceTime. While original wedding visions may have changed, the love, emotion, and beauty that unites two people in life remained as strong as ever.
