“We’ve been to so many weddings, but never one on a Manhattan rooftop. After taking in the views, we couldn’t see us getting married without the NYC skyline in the background. It was just our vibe – the venue had everything we imagined for a dream wedding.” This week, BB Featured Bride Joye reminisces on her breathtaking sky-high ceremony at Tribeca Rooftop.

Part 3: Ceremony and Backdrop Arrangements

As guests made their way to the rooftop patio, they we welcomed with an iconic scene of downtown Manhattan that harmonized the city’s past and present, showing off time-worn landmark buildings against towering sleek skyscrapers. The weather couldn’t have been more picture-perfect. With not a cloud in the sky, sunlight filtered down, dancing off the steel and brick architectural giants to luminous effect.

When asked to describe her style, BB Featured Bride Joye takes a moment and then answers, “Modern chic with a touch of romanticism.” Having a sense of what she wanted to wear at her wedding, Joye extended her research to designers she hadn’t heard of before. She came across Pallas Collective, a luxury label based in Australia. “I loved their designs,” the bride says, “But didn’t think they were available in the US. Soon after however, I found out they were having a trunk show in NYC and made an appointment.”

Joye and Scott ran in the same circle of friends during college, but they didn’t start dating until after graduation. “I finally caved and let him take me out,” Joye says with a laugh. They clicked immediately and soon realized their connection went far deeper than anything they had experienced during those casual get-togethers at school. “I can honestly say that I wanted Scott in my life for the long-haul from the beginning. He really wasn’t the type to be in a steady relationship. In fact, I was his first serious girlfriend, so I knew that he had the same feelings.”

Imagine being met by lush florals and greenery with every step you take down the aisle. Going big with ceremony pathway décor was a major emerging trend last year with our brides. Scattered rose petals and candles (which are absolutely beautiful!) were given over to flourishing, natural arrangements that looked like a garden in full bloom. Aptly described as a ‘living’ aisle, these show-stopping scenes captivate the eye to no end. Our client proposals for the upcoming wedding season indicate that this floral love affair is here to stay. From wildly romantic to prim and polished, here are décor ideas for making the big walk all you dreamed of and more.

After the ceremony, everyone was ready for a Hollywood rated celebration which began with cocktail hour – signature drinks were named after the newlywed’s favorite film quotes. Melanie looks back and says, “We wanted to capture the opulence of the roaring 20s.” As important as the flowers, the music helped to set a mood of stylish free-spiritedness for the evening. Here, Melanie shares the final chapter in her and Nick’s Real BB Wedding Story.

Part 4: Reception, Centerpieces, and Sweetheart Table

Custom designed escort cards that looked like vintage movie tickets, which were created by the maid of honor, directed guests to their seats. Along with numbers, tables were marked with signs featuring Melanie and Nick’s favorite movies such as Indiana Jones, The Princess Bride, and The Incredibles. “We also painted the ‘movie poster’ frames. They were originally white $1 plastic frames from IKEA,” Melanie says with a laugh. Each place setting was topped with pins, also made by the bride, with designs inspired by the movie table marker.

After walking the red carpet, guests entered the lobby of The Suffolk Theater for Melanie and Nick’s wedding. A festive mood filled the air (literally) – a floating canopy of balloons trimmed with florals and ribbon hung overhead. While the movie theme was apparent, the couple kept the rest of their wedding details under wraps. Melanie reveals, “One of the surprises was that we made our own escort cards to look like tickets. The theater has an original ticket booth from the 1930s. Nick’s friend, who is an actor, stood in the booth handing out tickets and ushering everyone into the theater.” Here, she talks about sharing the spotlight with Nick to say “I Do” in front of family and friends.
