Imagine painting a monogram on a pair of Christian Louboutin heels as their owner stands overhead, nervously watching your every brushstroke. An undeniably stressful situation for even the most seasoned painter, this is all in a day’s work for Danielle Stern, Founder and Owner of Leftys Right Mind, a Luxury Creative Studio based in New York.
We’ve known Danielle for some time now, first interviewing her in 2016 when she was just starting out, mainly doing hand-calligraphy signage for local restaurants and boutique shops. Bride & Blossom worked with Danielle to create the floral décor for her unforgettable wedding at Cold Spring Country Club in 2017. One of the best things about doing weddings is fostering relationships with our brides that last long after the vows have been exchanged. Keeping in touch with Danielle, we have watched her flourish on both a personal and professional level. Read More
Ashley & Joe Wedding – Bride – Wave Hill – Heather Waraksa Photography
Ask anyone who has gone through it, wedding planning is full of surprises. Ashley had a clear idea of what she wanted to wear. But sometimes the dress chooses the bride. “My wedding dress was everything I never knew I wanted,” she says with a laugh. Here, Ashley shares the details about her Monique Lhuillier gown and personals.
Part 2: Saying Yes to the Dress
The first visit to a bridal boutique can be overwhelming. Pressure mounts in the search to find ‘the one’ amidst rack upon rack of gorgeous designs. Any anxiety Ashley was feeling on the way to her appointment at Monique Lhuillier was quickly put to rest the moment she stepped through the door. “My sales person, Frank, told me that this was a journey and we were going to go on it together. He couldn’t have been more right.” She started pulling dresses that met her criteria – long sleeve and completely fitted with all-over lace. The sparks just weren’t flying when she looked in the mirror though. Then one particular dress caught her eye. “It wasn’t lace, it wasn’t long sleeve, and it definitely wasn’t fitted. But there was something about it that stood out to me.” Ashley put on the dress and immediately knew it was ‘the one.’ “The reaction from my Mom, sister, and best friend helped seal the deal. I tried on a few more looks. But at the end of the day, it was this gorgeous and completely unexpected gown that stayed with me.” Read More
Claire & James Wedding – Bride Groom – Capitale – by Susan Shek
“Non-traditional best describes my bridal style. I originally wanted to wear a black or red, but not everyone shared my same enthusiasm,” recalls featured bride Claire. She continues, “That was fine though, because I fell in love with my dress the moment I put it on.” Here, Claire talks about her striking Pnina Tornai gown and personal touches that she incorporate into the big day.
Part 2: Wedding Dress & Personals
Wedding dress shopping is often met with mixed emotions. Searching through rack after rack of gorgeous frocks is fun and exciting… up to a point. Then the pressure and anxiety starts to set in. Claire escaped this scenario. Her “say yes to the dress” story is the kind we all wish for. “After trying on about six dresses at Kleinfeld, I tried on my dress and knew immediately it was the one. Even the sample size fit like a glove. It was the perfect combination of classy and sexy.” The showstopper by Israeli designer Pnina Tornai featured a fitted silhouette with an exquisite lace top, which descended down into a silk, floor-length skirt. A sweeping lace panel train brought elegance and drama to the look. Read More

Stephanie & Mike Wedding – Bride and Groom – Field – Blue Hill at Stone Barns – Photography by Golden Hour Studio
When Stephanie asked Mike to see Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers play at World Café Live, she thought of it as nothing more than two friends getting together. They lived in Philadelphia at the time, where she was working as a nurse and he was going to school. “We were introduced on a night out with friends, got along really well, and texted back and forth a bit. I had an extra ticket to a concert one evening, but all my friends had plans.” Stephanie recalls. “Mike had mentioned his studies were getting tough. I asked him to join me thinking he could use a fun distraction. In the back of my mind though, I thought he wouldn’t be able to go on such short notice. But he said ‘yes’.” Read More
Every Sunday, Rachel and her friends would gather to watch The Amazing Race and draft fantasy teams. One night, Rachel’s friend Becky suggested she go out with a friend of hers from middle school, Matt. After checking out some pictures on Facebook, Rachel gave the thumbs up!
Matt and Rachel began texting nonstop. Matt was traveling for work at the time and was impressed that Rachel knew Bloomington, IL. They texted and talked on the phone throughout the week before their first date Friday night at Bistro 61.
On Memorial Day weekend, Matt was off from work on Friday. He told Rachel he would go shopping and prepare a nice dinner for the two of them that evening, but when Rachel walked in the door to their shared apartment, there were candles and roses everywhere, and a pathway leading to Matt. Matt proposed, she said yes, and they gathered for a surprise dinner with both of their families at Daniel. Rachel thought they had plans to go look at rings that holiday weekend, so she was shocked!
