To say that 2022 has been an unprecedented year for weddings would be an understatement. It was predicted that more couples would say “I Do” in 2022 than in any other year since 1984. While exact numbers aren’t in yet, our sense is that we’re close to hitting the mark. As wedding florists, we saw firsthand how getting married in a post-pandemic moment influenced our clients’ decisions. Perhaps it had to do with the slowing down and reflection that happened during 2020-2021, but couples were more willing than ever before to take risks and be creative when it came to flowers and decor, attire, food, and entertainment. Expectations about everything being ‘perfect’ gave way to being fully present during this once-in-a-lifetime event. While many of the weddings we are about to highlight look spectacular on an aesthetic level, upon further inspection, you will see that they are speckled with unique and meaningful details that are a sincere expression of the couple’s love and personality. Please join us as we look back at the Real BB Weddings of 2022.

You’ve probably heard the term ‘maximalism’ used to describe a style of interior design. Rooted in the ‘more is more’ philosophy, this approach to decorating the home is marked by bold colors, mixed patterns, and a play with scale. It’s joyful, dramatic, and emotional all at the same time – everything you want to feel on the day you get married. This got us thinking – we are used to hearing the term ‘minimalist’ applied to wedding flowers and decor. But what about the opposite end of the design spectrum where the sky’s the limit (literally and figuratively)?

The traditional paper escort card certainly has its place in the history of wedding planning and design. After finding their assigned seats, guests typically toss these rectangular pieces of paper to the side without giving them a second thought. Rather than being purely functional and let’s be honest, run-of-the-mill, what if this essential wedding component was a conversation starter and something your guests actually want to keep?

The great thing about escort cards is that they allow couples to play up their wedding aesthetic and personality while offering the chance to veer off brand a little – there’s no rule saying you can’t incorporate gilded miniature dinosaurs into an elegant all white wedding! You can have the most extravagant florals in the most luxurious venue, but it’s the unique and personal details of your wedding that everyone remembers most. From artistic to fun to thoughtful, we rounded up creative escort card ideas guaranteed to surprise your guests.

“We’ve been to so many weddings, but never one on a Manhattan rooftop. After taking in the views, we couldn’t see us getting married without the NYC skyline in the background. It was just our vibe – the venue had everything we imagined for a dream wedding.” This week, BB Featured Bride Joye reminisces on her breathtaking sky-high ceremony at Tribeca Rooftop.

Part 3: Ceremony and Backdrop Arrangements

As guests made their way to the rooftop patio, they we welcomed with an iconic scene of downtown Manhattan that harmonized the city’s past and present, showing off time-worn landmark buildings against towering sleek skyscrapers. The weather couldn’t have been more picture-perfect. With not a cloud in the sky, sunlight filtered down, dancing off the steel and brick architectural giants to luminous effect.
