Our Favorite Wedding Dresses From Bridal Fashion Week New York Fall 2018

Right after flowers, the favorite topic of conversation in the Bride & Blossom showroom is wedding dresses. Bridal Fall 2018 New York Fashion Week just wrapped up. Designers showcased an array of swoon-worthy designs with some so stunning they left us gasping for breath!

When we work with our brides on choosing a bouquet, so much is dependent on what they will be wearing down the aisle. The color scheme, type of flower and style arrangement should compliment the gown in some way. Always looking ahead, we thought it would be fun to have everyone at Bride & Blossom handpick their favorite bridal looks for the upcoming season.

Rachel Trimarco, Bride & Blossom Founder & CEO

I like dresses that resemble a different age and time. My style tends toward classically elegant so I am not surprised that my top picks are from Elie Saab and Marchesa. Both designers have extraordinary attention to detail and always strike a perfect balance between embellishment with regard to silhouette. And I of course love the lace and floral applique on these gowns.

I like dresses that are ethereal and romantic with a bit of a bohemian vibe. My favorite gowns are from designers Carolina Herrera, Elie Saab, Marchesa, and Lela Rose. I absolutely love the lace and cutout trends, and of course any sort of floral accents! There’s a soft femininity to these gowns that I just adore. For an actual wedding, I love a design that is unique, but also timeless. You can look back at your pictures years later and not regret your wedding dress!

I absolutely love everything about this gown/cape combo by Zuhair Murad. The modesty of the cape combined with the revealing lace applique on the dress is perfection. The gown manages to have gorgeous impact while still looking light and airy. Imagine this combined with floor-to-ceiling hanging orchids during the ceremony!

Another favorite of mine from Beirut-based designer Zahir Murad is this delicious layered tulle confection. It’s over-the-top, dramatic, and absolutely non-traditional in a bubblegum shade of blush!

This perfectly-cut Monqiue Lhullier bridal suit is absolute perfection in it’s sleekness and simplicity. I can definitely see a non-traditional bride wearing this suit for a ceremony and then changing into a dazzling short party dress for the reception!

There’s something about the way the bustier of this beautiful Monique Lhullier gown is cut, with origami-like pleats, a structured bodice and a voluminous trumpet skirt that embodies grace and sophistication with a bit of edge. I’d love to see it with an intricate chignon updo and a smaller bouquet, since the skirt has so much volume.

I guess I really am a non-traditionalist when it comes to wedding gowns! This ethereal Naeem Khan dress is seductive with it’s plunging neckline, yet demure with it’s 50’s era tea length hem. I love the subtle floral appliques on the bust and waist and the traditional tulle skirt. I personally would nix the fishnets and headpiece and earrings for the ceremony, but I do love those dramatic chandelier earrings for the reception!

My jaw dropped upon seeing the whispery green and white floral embroidery on the skirt. This gown by Carolina Herrera would be perfect for a garden wedding in late spring when the flowers are in full bloom!

This gown by Reem Acra may be my favorite. I have a deep passion for vintage, especially the fashion from the 1920s. The crystal detailing on the shoulders is stunning and reminds me of the decadent glamour that defined that era. The way the opulent top fades into a feminine and airy skirt is a vision. I actually like the baby’s breath bouquet and crown pictured here, but also think a small, loosely tied bouquet of silver-lavender hued amnesia roses would look wonderful!

I’ve always been fond of the tea-length dress and love seeing the style in bridal attire. This gown by Elie Saab is so pretty! The modesty of the silhouette with long sleeves combined with the chiffon and exquisite lace detail naturally flowing down the skirt is gorgeous.

This ethereal design by Inbal Dror is absolutely striking. The ballerina-inspired silhouette with the fitted waist and voluminous skirt is simple and provides the perfect contrast to the shimmering ornamentation. There is a grey, twinkling hue to the gown that looks almost celestial, like it was sprinkled with stardust!

From understated elegance to show stopping glamour, the bridal collections for Fall 2018 revealed so many beautiful creations that we had a hard time choosing favorites! To see more head-turning looks that we loved, visit us on Pinterest.
