Palest Blush Bouquet at Battery Gardens

Bouquet Recipe Battery Gardens_Melissa Kruse

It’s no secret: we love blush wedding flowers. And creating this textured, romantic bridal bouquet, in the palest palette of blush and ivory, was pure pleasure. Beautiful bride Adriana wanted flowers with a classic but fresh look. Her bouquet was softly rounded and dimensional, with stems partially wrapped in ivory satin ribbon.

We chose several of our favorite specialty roses:dusty-blush Quicksand roses, warmer blush Keira roses, and pale-blush La Perla roses. Using a variations of a similar color adds depth, even to light-colored bouquets. Ranunculus, spray roses and garden roses, brought cream, ivory and white into the mix. A few sprigs of seeded eucalyptus accented the flowers.

hudson guild repeat roses

An email from our friend Jennifer at Repeat Roses just made our week!

Great news! Your flowers have been collected, repurposed and delivered to share a little happiness in the world. Your beautiful donated flowers were delivered on Wednesday December 9, 2015 to brighten the day for many at the Hudson Guild community center in Chelsea.

We think it’s chic to share with the Hudson Guild because:
This organization provides everything from housing for formerly homeless seniors to hot meals for those in economic need. Formed in 1897, they continue to provide care and comfort to the community by serving over 14,000 individuals annually, including 8,000 mental health counseling sessions. Rose Quartz and Serenity: Pantone’s Twin Colors of the Year for 2016

rose-quartz-serenity--pantone-2016

Pantone just announced two Colors of the Year for 2016: Rose Quartz and Serenity. This is the first time more than one color has earned the title. The soft pink and blue pastel shades are already triggering social media one-liners about painting nurseries, but we agree with the overwhelming public opinion: Rose Quartz and Serenity are lovely and of course, right on trend.

If you’ve been following us for a while, you already know how much we love to work with flowers in pale pinks from the barest hint of blush, to baby pink, to cotton candy. We adore the trend toward soft, sweet color schemes, and can’t wait to see how other wedding vendors, and our brides-to-be, get inspired.

Well-Read at Windows on the Water

book-themed-reception-windows-on-water-stephen-govel

We loved being a part of this charming, book-themed wedding for a New Jersey bride who loves getting lost in a story. Vows were framed by a gorgeous blush-and-cream floral archway. Romantic clusters of blooms included Tibet roses, sweetheart roses and ranunculus, accented with geranium leaves, seeded eucalyptus and olive tree greens.

This natural, whimsical look continued with all the wedding flowers. Eucalyptus berries and passion vines gave the bridal bouquet, composed of spray roses and garden roses, organic texture, while sweet pea and lisianthus added delicacy. A garland of lush greenery and fresh-cut blooms adorned the sweetheart table.

Framed quotes from great authors – from A.A. Milne to Cormac McCarthy – and table numbers printed on vintage book pages, joined arrangements featuring dahlias, quicksand roses, manzanita branches and moss. Illuminated by rustic lanterns and candlelight, the celebration seemed to take place in a fairy-tale forest.
